LAPTOP FILES · $FILES
Every machine came out of the ground partially readable. The boot log on your drive stops where the data stopped. Burn $FILES to read the rest.

Here is exactly how it works, with nothing dressed up. The burn happens on-chain. You send $FILES to the burn address, that transaction is public, and anyone can verify it forever.
The artwork and traits are hosted, not on-chain. When your burn confirms, we regenerate the image at the new index and update the metadata. That step is us doing what we said we would do. It is not enforced by a contract, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Every recovery will be listed publicly against the burn transaction that paid for it, so the record stays checkable even though the metadata is not trustless. If we ever move the traits fully on-chain, that changes, and we will say so plainly when it does.
At 100% the drive gives up a page that has never been visible: the owner's last session, in full. Roughly 4% of machines minted above 90%. Everyone else has to burn for it.
Every machine carries a Condition. Burning $FILES moves it one step up the ladder.
The ones in red are the scarcest conditions in the collection — Fire-scarred sits at 0.18%, Salt-corroded at 0.50%. Restoring them makes the machine cleaner and permanently rarer. That trade is yours to make. We are not going to tell you which way is correct.
Lock a machine in cold storage and it will earn $FILES for as long as it stays there. Condition improves one step for every full period locked, at no burn cost — time does the restoring instead of tokens.
Locked machines cannot be sold without breaking storage first. That is the point.
1,000,000,000 $FILES total, on Robinhood Chain. Fixed supply, no mint function.
